OnePlus 8 Pro's Camera Can See Through Some Plastic Objects. Can It See Through Clothes ?

OnePlus 8 Pro's colour filter camera can see through some plastic objects. Can it see through clothes ? Let's find out below.

The OnePlus 8 Pro is back in the news today and this time, it's because of quite an unusual camera feature. A few people on Reddit started circulating videos showing how the OnePlus 8 Pro's camera can see through some plastic objects. Yes, you read that right. Users have managed to find another case for the colour filter camera on the OnePlus 8 Pro. Either OnePlus didn't want anybody to know about this feature or they didn't know about it themselves. Either way, it's out now and we know that OnePlus 8 Pro's camera can do a "magical" party trick.

Essentially what we're looking at here is that when the colour filter camera is used on objects made out of thin plastic, you can basically see through it. So if you point the camera at, say, a TV remote, then you'll be able to see its internal components. Some would say it's pretty cool, but others are probably just scratching their heads trying to figure out exactly how is this happening.

Here's how it works

Before we talk about this feature, it's worth pointing out that the OnePlus 8 Pro's camera can't see through everything. Only a select few plastic objects seem to be working like the TV remote, computer keyboards, etc. It can't see through the objects with thick plastic exterior or metals. The scientific explanation behind this has to do with how different forms of light works. Light is essentially a form of radiation that appears across different wavelengths and frequencies and hence there are different forms like visible light, infrared, ultraviolet, x-rays, and more. Visible light is, well, visible to us because its wavelength falls in the same category as the wavelength that can be perceived by the human eye. So if you want to see other forms of these radiations, then you're going to need special sensors that are sensitive to corresponding wavelengths. Get it? So the OnePlus 8 Pro is using an IR filter of some sorts to mimic an effect that's obeying the rules of science and letting us see through the objects.

Does It Mean It Can See Through Clothes?

Sony once had to recall one of its products because it shipped them with an IR filter that allowed users to see-through fabrics. That is quite unacceptable due to obvious reasons. So can the OnePlus 8 Pro see through clothes too? Many people are trying this filter now and some the pics prove that it can see through some of the fabrics to some extent. And in this case, then OnePlus will just have to completely disable the sensor, which also means their 4th camera module will basically be useless. We're yet to hear from OnePlus to see what they have to say about this. We'll update you with more info. Tags: #Trending #OnePlus8Pro #OnePlus #SeeThrough #IRFilter #ColourFilter #WhataShot #Was_in
